Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has been named the Premier League’s best player for the 2023/24 season.
Earlier in May, the Association of Football Journalists (FWA) voted Foden as the Player of the Year. On Saturday, on the eve of the final round of the Premier League, the 23-year-old England player received another prestigious individual award.
The title of the best player in the Premier League at the end of the season marks Foden’s impressive success on the football field. Phil scored 17 goals and provided eight assists in 34 English championship matches.
“Winning this award is an achievement that I am extremely proud of. The Premier League is known as the best league in the world, and it was a pleasure to be nominated along with so many great players, each of whom is having a special season for their club,” Foden said.
It is worth noting that this is the fifth consecutive season when the official award for the best player in the Premier League goes to a representative of City. Erling Holand won it last season, Kevin De Bruyne — in 2019/20 and 2021/22, Ruben Dias — in 2020/21.
In addition to Foden, Holand, Alexander Isak, Martin Edegore, Cole Palmer, Declan Rice, Virgil Van Dijk and Ollie Watkins were also nominated for the title of the best player in the Premier League in the 2023/24 season.
The winner of the award was determined by adding up the votes of fans and a panel of experts.
