Харри Кейн Manchester United manager Eric Ten Haag has confirmed that he tried to buy striker Harry Kane last summer.

Last summer, United acquired Rasmus Heilund from Atalanta in a deal worth 72 million pounds, and since then Rasmus has scored 14 goals in 38 matches.

However, the Red Devils turned to the option with the 21-year-old Dane only after they could not agree with Tottenham on Kane, who scored three times as many goals for Bayern.

“We had a choice among talents like Rasmus Heilund. I could also imagine that we would sign a striker who has already proven his class. We wanted to buy it, but we couldn’t get it. And then we took Rasmus because he has talent.”

“Yes, this is Kane. You know that Harry Kane will provide you with 30 goals per season. I think Rasmus will reach this level, but he needs time. It’s unfair to rate him the same way as Harry Kane. I would never compare two very different players.”

“But in the case of Heilund, he was the striker with the most potential last summer, and we are very happy with him. He needs time to adapt, but we are very pleased that he has already shown his ability to score goals.”

“He had a very good period when he scored in many matches, but before and after he had some problems with physical fitness, which is normal for a young player who is in the process of becoming. This had a negative effect on the team’s results, and we have to put up with it,” Ten Hag told Sky Sports.
