Сандро Тонали Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali has been punished by the FA with a two-month suspended suspension for violating a betting ban.

Last summer, Newcastle acquired Tonali from Milan for 55 million pounds, but in October Sandro was subjected to a 10-month suspension by the Italian authorities for betting, which he committed as a Rossoneri player.

And in March, Tonali filed her charges against the FA, accusing Sandro of 50 violations of the ban on betting between August 12, 2023 and October 12, 2023, when the 23-year-old Italian already represented Newcastle.

And today the Association announced that an independent commission found Tonali’s guilt proven, but the two-month suspension is postponed and will take effect only if Sandro violates the betting ban again before the end of the 2024/25 season.

Additionally, Tonali was fined 20,000 pounds. The FA also clarifies that Sandro’s specified bets were made for a total amount of over 100,000 euros (85,600 pounds).

In addition, if Tonali avoids additional sanctions, he will be able to return to playing for Newcastle on August 27, for which he has played only 12 matches in all competitions so far. The disqualification does not apply to the training process.
