Тимо Вернер Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou said that his club has not yet made a decision on buying out striker Timo Werner.

Werner managed to score two goals and provide three assists in 14 matches for Tottenham after his transfer from RB Leipzig on loan in January, before suffering a posterior thigh injury in the derby against Arsenal last weekend, which will no longer allow him to play this season.

Tottenham have an option to buy out the 28-year-old German for 15 million pounds, but Spurs will make their decision about this only after the end of the season.

“The only reason why this decision has not been made yet is that we are not thinking about the here and now — we have a strategy. I want our situation to be better in six months than it is now. We have rented Timo until the end of the season, and the decision about him is part of our strategy. We’ll see what we have to do and what we can do in the summer.”

“We have to decide whether Timo fits into this strategy, as well as solve other issues. I think he has settled in very well with us. He arrived at a very important time in January, when Sonny (Song Hyun-min) left (for the Asian Cup) and Rishi (Richarlison) got injured.”

“We lacked flanking players, and his arrival helped us a lot. I think he showed himself, but for final decisions I need to first clearly understand what we already have,” Postecoglou was quoted by ESPN.
