The father of Chelsea defender Jan Matsen has confirmed that his son wants to stay at Borussia Dortmund after the end of this season.
After spending the first half of this season on the Chelsea bench, Matsen went to Dortmund on loan in January.
The 22-year-old Dutchman has established himself as a key player of Borussia, with whom he reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, and Edward Matsen feels that his son will be better off in Dortmund than at Chelsea.
“We are working on staying at the club (Dortmund).”
“The clubs will need to make efforts to reach a compromise. Jan is developing well here, whereas Chelsea’s business is not going well after the change of owners.”
“Also, a lot of things at Chelsea revolve around money, and sometimes it looks more important than the interests of the club. We have other options besides Chelsea and Borussia, but Borussia turned out to be a good option for a reboot.”
“And look at the guys who came here: Jude Bellingham, Erling Holand,” Matsen Sr. told Voetbal International.
