The Eagles’ defense also played a pivotal role in the upset. They forced two turnovers and registered six sacks, constantly disrupting Florida Atlantic’s offensive rhythm. Anchrum Jr. spearheaded the winning drive with a series of clutch plays. He converted a third-and-10 with a 20-yard pass, then followed it up with a 30-yard completion to set up Georgia Southern’s game-winning touchdown. With time winding down, Anchrum Jr. found Jaheim Oatis for a 12-yard touchdown pass, giving the Eagles their first lead of the game.
