Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay said his injury is minor and he will return to the football field “very soon”.
Last Saturday against Burnley (1-1), 27-year-old McTominay played only 26 minutes, after which he needed a reverse substitution.
On Monday evening, Scott took to social media, dispelling the fears of fans not only of United, but also of the Scottish national team.
“I slipped and fell unsuccessfully on my knee, just like it happened against Chelsea. Nothing serious, just a sprain, but I was angry and upset because I thought it was getting worse.”
“I hope I will be back on the field very soon to help the team as much as possible,” McTominay told Instagram followers.

Scott McTominay has assured fans that his injury is minor and he will return to action “very soon”.
The 27-year-old midfielder was forced off after just 26 minutes of Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday after slipping and falling on his knee.
McTominay took to social media on Monday evening to dispel fears over the extent of the injury, insisting that it is just a sprain.
He said: “I slipped and fell awkwardly on my knee, just like what happened against Chelsea. Nothing serious, just a sprain, but I was angry and upset because I thought it was getting worse.
“I hope to be back on the pitch very soon to help the team as much as possible.”
McTominay’s injury is a blow for Manchester United, who are already without a number of key players. However, his positive update will come as a relief to manager Erik ten Hag and the club’s fans.
The midfielder is also a key player for Scotland, and his return to fitness will be a boost for Steve Clarke’s side ahead of their upcoming UEFA Nations League matches in June.
