Тиаго Силва Defender Thiago Silva, who is leaving Chelsea, gave a parting message to his teammates.

Silva is currently preparing for his farewell match as a Chelsea player — against Bournemouth on Sunday.

Silva admits that Chelsea have not lived up to expectations this season and thanks the fans for their support. The 39-year-old Brazilian warns that the Blues must perform better next year.

“Tiago knows what it means to wear a Chelsea shirt. And if I need to leave a message for the guys who are here today, then I hope they understand that they have to justify their entry into Chelsea.

“Because the season we are having is not worthy of Chelsea. Not worthy.”

“And I think they need to do more next year. They have to do more.”

“If you look at the matches, the fans have never turned away from the team, never. We were in ninth place, eighth, right? And the fans have always been with us.”

“They booed us a little bit at the end of the match, but they were always in the stands. Always 40-45 thousand.”

“If we were performing anywhere else, scissors would be flying at us. It happens in my country.”

“That’s why these guys have to realize that Chelsea have to fight for the top places. I think if we take our ego a little bit and channel it for the good of the team, it will work. Otherwise, unfortunately, the situation is unlikely to change,” Silva told Sky Sports.
