Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou has warned that his team needs to update its squad next summer.
Tottenham have started this season very confidently, their debut under Postecoglou. Spurs have not suffered a single defeat in the first 10 Premier League matches, demonstrating bright football.
However, in recent weeks, Tottenham have looked unimportant, dropping to fifth place in the Premier League. This tells Postecoglou that he does not have enough players to play in his style.
“I need to change this line-up. I need it because I’m building a team that I think can play our football. For this to happen, breakups are needed.”
“We need changes. Changes have to happen. You can’t want to radically change your approach because this club has chosen a certain direction. Now we are turning in a completely different direction and we cannot expect to do it by the same people. It’s just not going to happen.”
“We’ve had two transfer windows and we’ve made some changes in terms of player selection, but I’d say we still have a lot of work to do. That’s what I’m talking about.”
“It’s not about desire. It’s just that we’re going to play a certain way, we’re going to train a certain way, we’re going to have a certain mindset, and it’s not for everyone.”
“Look at Liverpool or Arsenal at the beginning of their journey. By the time they won trophies or achieved success, their teams became almost unrecognizable (relative to what they were at first),” Postecoglou was quoted by the BBC.
