Manchester United are ready to use their defender Harry Maguire as a bargaining chip in the deal to acquire Jarrad Brantwaite from Everton.
The Daily Star names Brantwaite as United’s number one target for the summer transfer window. At Old Trafford, Jarrad is considered to have the potential of a world-class player.
Everton estimates Brantwaite at 70 million pounds, and this is too much money for United, which does not qualify for the Champions League next season and which also plans to strengthen other positions besides attacking.
Therefore, United hopes to significantly bring down the price for the 21-year-old Englishman by offering Everton instead of the 31-year-old Maguire.
Maguire was stripped of the captain’s armband at United last summer, but ended up being one of the team’s most reliable players in this difficult season. However, Harry plays regularly only due to injuries to competitors.
United are planning to get rid of Maguire in the summer anyway, keeping in mind Harry’s age and the fact that his contract expires in 2025.
