Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that he hopes with “his heart and soul” for Manchester City to misfire at the end of the season.
To win the Premier League title this season, it will not be enough for Arsenal to win all their remaining matches – the Gunners need City, with one game left, to misfire.
And although City have been looking almost flawless lately, Arteta intends to fight to the very end while Arsenal have a chance at the championship.
“Yes, in my heart and in my soul I hope that City will lose points.”
“You know what emotions we are going through. You just want to win, but to win, others have to lose points, and you hope for that.”
“And when City wins, you have to control your emotions, because it’s not over yet, there are a lot of matches to be played and a lot of points to be scored.”
“You have to prove yourself, prepare and win the next match to keep the chances. That’s what we’re trying to do,” Arteta is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.
