His second came in the 30th minute, this time a clinical finish after a lightning-fast counterattack. PSG extended their lead in the second half, with Mbappé completing his hat-trick in the 68th minute. The 2022 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winner received a delightful through ball from Neymar, rounding AS Monaco goalkeeper Alexander Nübel with ease before tapping in. Neymar added a fourth for PSG in the 72nd minute, putting the game beyond doubt. AS Monaco grabbed a consolation goal through Myron Boadu in the 82nd minute, but it was too little, too late. Mbappé’s heroics brought PSG within five points of league leaders AS Monaco. The Parisians now have 57 points from 27 games, while Monaco remains on 62 points with a game in hand. Mbappé’s hat-trick was his third in Ligue 1 this season. The 24-year-old has now scored 20 goals in all competitions for PSG in the 2022/23 campaign. PSG will look to continue their pursuit of the league title when they face FC Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg on Tuesday, February 14.
