Тимо Вернер Tottenham striker Timo Werner will miss the match against his former club Chelsea due to a hip injury.

Werner suffered this injury in the first half of Tottenham’s 2-3 derby loss against Arsenal last Sunday.

Unfortunately for Werner, the 2023/24 season is already over for him. The 28-year-old German, who is on loan from RB Leipzig by Spurs, will miss his five remaining Premier League matches, including the trip to Chelsea on Thursday.

“The situation is not good, we had a couple of problems in the last match. Timo suffered an injury to the back of his thigh. There are two and a half weeks left, so he will miss the rest of the season. And Ben Davis suffered a calf injury in the match and will also miss the rest of the season,” Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou was quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.

Earlier in his career, Werner played two seasons for Chelsea after transferring from RB Leipzig for 47.5 million pounds. In 2021, Timo celebrated the Champions League victory with the Blues, but returned to Leipzig a year later.

Let’s add that Tottenham owns the option to buy back Werner for 15 million pounds. Timo scored two goals and provided three assists in 13 Premier League matches played.
